Built at the beginning of the 5th century as a privately owned house it soon became a 'riserva di caccia', a house used for game hunting. Since this time the Burattino Country House has continued to be a welcoming place where people can congregate and stay for varied periods of time, amidst the Tuscan countryside. It is believed that the house was a place of meditation and inspiration for Leonardo Da Vinci during his travels in Tuscany. The main source of inspiration and motivation for Leonardo's work is said to be the Tuscan views, panorama and countryside. The Burattino Country house was renovated once in the 7th century, and to a larger extent reconstructed at the end of the 10th century, however maintaining the original characteristics and division of the rooms.
